Allergies and Asthma
Eosinophils are a type of white blood cell that usually show up in parasitic infections, allergies, and asthma attacks. These cells can persist in the body and blood long after the offending worm or allergy trigger is gone, up to almost two weeks. Unlike other white blood cells, eosinophils are a type of granulocyte. This means that they contain little packets or granules of inflammatory chemicals that they release all at once at the intruder. It’s not an issue if you’re filled with parasites, but quite the problem if this happens in your lungs and airways. Ideally, we’d like our eosinophils to do their jobs, but not super well. Purchase this immune system cell for yourself or a friend. It makes a great gift for immunologists, asthma and allergy sufferers, parasitologists, and starry-eyed pre-med students.
